Wall Painting Techniques

If your walls are dull and you would like to have a cozy room, it is time to consider wall painting techniques. There are many different techniques which can easily change your room: ragging, stenciling, stamping and, of course, sponging. Some people think that decorating your room is not an easy task, however, the fact is, even without experience in wall painting you can easily use these wall painting techniques and make your room lighter without spending too much money.

First of all, it is very important to decide which colors you will use. The majority of wall painting techniques require two or even more colors. Some experts recommend to pick a darker color as a base color and a lighter color as a secondary color. This simple technique can make your room look much lighter if you add light colors to the top of your walls.

If you want to sponge a wall, you should paint your wall on your main color and wait until it dries. Then you will need to dip your sponge into the lighter paint color and apply it over the base layer. If you are unsatisfied with the result, you can repaint the areas you do not like into base color, wait until it dries and then, apply lighter paint again. This wall painting technique is very easy and even your child can help you paint your walls.

There are several decorative wall painting techniques such as stamping and stenciling. I have to admit that those two techniques are not as simple as the previous and you will need to spend some time learning how to paint your walls using these techniques. Personally, I have used a sponge technique and I was very content with the result. My wife and 7 year child helped me to paint our walls and the result was fantastic.

To sum up I would like to add that almost all wall painting techniques use several layers of paint. That is why you can always repaint areas you are not satisfied with. Do not worry if some parts of your walls look bad, just paint them again and soon you will be satisfied with the result…
